Asimov's Blunder Inspired Wolfe

File770 has a cool post on how Isaac Asimov's blunder during the Nebula awards inspired Gene Wolfe to write more short fiction. It's also a great tale of the best way to face what feels like defeat!

Read the article here.

It also mentions Harlan Ellison, whom I saw with Gene back at the 2010 MadCon. Harlan, who is known for being rather mean spirited, is very kind to Gene, and I find that dynamic fascinating. I think it would take a lot to earn Ellison's respect, how much it's worth is subjective of course, but it's still fascinating.
